Historical data sources

  • 1960–1988: according to the official administrative extract from the foreign trade statistics of the Federal Customs Administration (monthly publication).
  • 1989–1998: EMD (based on end-user certificates).
  • 1999: SECO (based on end-user certificates).

Descriptions of export categories and control list items (EKN) are based on the Wassenaar Arrangement control lists: wassenaar.org

In various places we use data from SIPRI’s Arms Transfer Database.

Lines on the globe run from Switzerland to recipient countries. With broad filters, exports are aggregated by country. With fewer than 100 matches, individual exports are shown. Colours correspond to the goods category with the highest volume.

Various tools that use artificial intelligence were used to create this website. Wherever possible, the results were checked manually.
